Believing is Seeing

This is the new motto to my life. Coming out of a multitude of concepts, ideals, ideas, beliefs and philosophies, it is exemplified in science and the Internet.

In science, in experiments, until the end goal is stated, what the experiments are looking for, what they hope to find, not until the desired end is put into writing or expressed in some fashion, the experiments will never find it. The results, the data will not correlate to what is being looked for.

As a long time existentialist, Seeing is Believing has been a theme of my experience and belief systems. So now in a twist on a variety of other concepts I have come into contact over the last few years, the new motto is now

Peak Oil, the greatest challenge we face

For a good year now I have been contemplating how best to help the most number of people. From starting my own non-profit devoted to helping Veterans and People Transitioning Work, to Urban Infill ideas dealing with taking empty office spaces (Such as the old Circuit City building here in town and turning it into affordable housing) I have considered and dabbled in getting started on those and others.

So then a few weeks ago I asked some people I know what they consider to be the single thing (however impossible) I could focus on that would do the most good for the most people. I got some good ideas, some support, mostly focused on work in your skills or interests.

Then last weekend sitting in Books a Million with my wife I found the book with the answer. Why Your World Is About to Get a Whole Lot Smaller: Oil and the End of Globalization


It reminded me of my long time layman interest in Peak Oil and what it will mean for our world.
So this is the answer, increase awareness of Peak Oil and work to find a solution, and to encourage the finding of this solution. Now to get serious funding.

Time to Create

So as work commences on my next Past into Present, as I was standing in Wal-Mart skimming a Playstation Magazine I decided, it was time.
It was time to solicit inputs, get some stuff together with some others and create something in the collaborative/'zine/APA mode.

Since I was looking at a videogame oriented magazine, the topic, at least for me, is game / videogame oriented. How ever what ever is created and sent in will be wonderful.

What: An creation you wish to. Visual, drawing, photography, artwork, game product, map, what ever other than audio/visual (since this will end up a PDF)

It is time

It is time
Time long past when all the people of the world, of tribes, or groups, pulled together and worked to improve our own world, our own lands, our own nations, be it mine or be it yours. If we have a common ground to meet on, be it in literature or writing we like, a love of making soap, writing, playing table top role playing games, what ever the connection is. It is now time for all with a common interest to pull together. To share ideas, tips, job leads, work ideas, companies hiring, proposals to be made, help out each one and another for cost or just for free.
We as citizens of Planet Earth can no longer afford to allow those we elect, or those that forcibly rise to power, to run our lives. Yes they will influence us. But I spent a few hours tonight helping a local company improve their web site. For free.
Tomorrow I will help more in searching for work possibilities. We cannot let those that are trying to survive pass away for a lack of a little support.
Yes the large corporations that are dying under the weight of their bulk need to pass to allow for new, fresh, agile and workable entities to come into existence.
The ones that are dead, companies, that are not trying, just cutting deeper and deeper into the innocent known as employees, they should be left to their own devices and the rest of us help our neighbors and get through this event just past.
Done with the rant of the night.

This is intended to foster a sense of community and quality.

That came to me last night as the wife and I were shopping in a craft store last night. Spurred mostly over my growing dismay over labels that state "Made in China".
This is such a symptom of the current US Economy.

This book is the inspiration, key inspiration, for this community.

There are several other books that are influential in the initial concept.
Wikinomics is one of the other books that are influencing the ideas for and behind this blog.

The core concept is to create a community. This will be composed of Online and Real Life components. The intent is to bring together like minded people to aid and work with each other. Lending talents, gifts, skills, knowledge and ability to help one and another.

Think in terms of a small town. One that is close, one that is focused on the welfare of the entire town over just that of a single individual. This is the sense of Community I am looking for.

As time passes I wish for this to expand outward to where each one involved is there for one and another. Helping out in what ever fashion they are able to.

The Collective

This is the beginning of The Collective.
